Wakefield Middle School Literature and Composition teachers Dorothy A. Fontaine and Laura Prahlad have been accepted to a week-long, residential Summer Teacher Seminar program sponsored by the Graduate Institute at St. John’s College in Annapolis, Md. The program takes place next week!
This year’s topic is “Private and Public, Individual and State” and the facilitated discussions will be based on readings from Hobbes’ Leviathan and Plato’s Republic. This program is offered exclusively to nominated K-12 teachers from various disciplines as a professional development opportunity at St. John’s and “provides an excellent opportunity for teachers to experience the discussion-based manner of learning engaged in at St. John’s, and to exchange ideas with other interested faculty from a variety of disciplines, in an informal, though serious context.”
This program is partially funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Hodson Trust through the “We the People” program.
